CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: BEATDOM #21

I feel that the change, the mutation in consciousness, will occur spontaneously once certain pressures now in operation are removed. I feel that the principal instrument of monopoly and control that prevents expansion of consciousness is the word lines controlling thought, feeling and apparent sensory impressions of the human host.

William S. Burroughs, Conversations with William S. Burroughs, p.1

Every October, we put out a call for submissions for the next year’s journal. Even though 2020 has been an unprecedented year, filled with hardships, we are going to push ahead and do the same as usual.

From now until March 1st 2021, we will be reading submissions for Beatdom #21. This time, the theme will be CHANGE. You should feel free to interpret that however you wish, but here are some ideas to get the creative juices flowing:

  • Mutations in the work of William S. Burroughs
  • Allen Ginsberg’s poem, “The Change”
  • Textual changes in Beat literature

We will be open to any essays, interviews, or reviews related directly to the Beat Generation and the topic of CHANGE. We are also open to short stories, art, and poetry, but we give preference to essays when making final decisions.

The usual submission guidelines apply. See here for more.
