Howl: The Graphic Novel

September 24th sees the release of the much awaited movie, Howl, directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman. The movie features a long animated sequence in which Eric Drooker brings Ginbserg’s poem to life, stanza by stanza.
Drooker was chosen because of his experience in animating Ginsberg’s work. In 1996 he illustrated Illuminated Poems.

Now there’s a graphic novel that features artwork from the movie. You can read more at Drooker’s website, including a few sample pages.

  • i think that cover of Howl looks excellent there!...wow, now i can see the second one, too.
i gotta check out the inside...

    • If you take a look at his website you can see a little from inside the book. I'm not a particular fan of graphic novels, as you know, but they do look pretty impressive.

  • same feeling here on the graphic novels but, in this case, it makes me wonder what exactly was illustrated. there are so many lines to choose from.

    • From what I gather he illustrated each individual stanza, which would make it an extremely long book.
